Conor McGilligan has quickly established himself as one of the most prominent figure in the Leeds United fan community through his One Leeds Fan Channel. With a growing subscriber base and a reputation for candid analysis, Conor offers insights into the club's dynamics, engages with a passionate audience, and explores opportunities for collaboration.
Your channel has seen significant growth. What inspired you to start creating Leeds United-focused content?
Conor McGilligan:
Ah, you know what, it all started just from my love for Leeds United. I was always chatting with mates, breaking down games, and sharing my thoughts on transfers or tactics. One day I just thought, why not start putting this online? It’s been amazing seeing how many people feel the same way and want to talk football.
Your videos cover a wide range of topics, from match reactions to transfer news. How do you decide on the content you produce?
Conor McGilligan:
It’s pretty organic to be honest. I follow what’s happening with Leeds, whether it’s a big game coming up, a player being linked, or just stuff the fans are chatting about online.
I try to mix it up and keep it interesting for everyone, but at the end of the day, it’s all about what’s relevant and what the fans want to hear.
Engaging with fans is a big part of your channel. What common questions or themes do you notice from your audience?
Conor McGilligan:
Oh, 100%! The fans always want to know about transfers – that’s a massive one. Who we’re bringing in, who might be leaving, that sort of thing. Also, there’s a lot of chat about tactics and the manager – especially when things aren’t going too well! But I love that back-and-forth. It’s proper Leeds banter, isn’t it?
Consistency is key in content creation. How do you maintain a regular upload schedule, and what challenges do you face?
Conor McGilligan:
It’s definitely a challenge, mate! I try to plan ahead a bit, especially around matchdays, but sometimes life just gets in the way.
The key is staying passionate, if you love what you’re talking about, you find the time. There are days where I am knackered or work gets hectic, but once I hit record and start chatting football, it’s all worth it.
Your analysis often includes detailed statistics and insights. What resources or tools do you use to gather information?
Conor McGilligan:
I keep an eye on loads of stuff, from the official Leeds site to stats sites like WhoScored or SofaScore.
I also follow a lot of journalists and listen to podcasts. But I try not to get too bogged down in numbers , it’s more about combining the stats with what I’m seeing on the pitch and what I think it means for the team.
Collaboration can be beneficial for growth. Have you partnered with other creators or brands, and how have those experiences been?
Conor McGilligan:
Yeah, I’ve done a few collabs with other Leeds creators and podcasts, and it’s always a good laugh. It’s nice to chat with people who are just as obsessed with the club as you are!
When it comes to brands, I’m pretty careful, I only want to work with people who understand the Leeds community and share the same values.
I don't take on branding for the sake of it, I have to feel like it adds something to my community. I think that is a big part of why my commuinty gets behind any promotional work I do. It's authentic and genuine.
Looking ahead, what are your goals for the channel, and how do you plan to evolve your content?
Conor McGilligan:
My main goal is to keep growing the channel!
I want to reach more fans, cover a wider range of stories, and potentially explore live content or matchday vlogs.
I’d love to attend more games and bring that atmosphere directly to the viewers.
But above all, it’s about staying true to what this channel was built on, authentic Leeds United content, created by a genuine Leeds fan.
For brands interested in collaborating, what value does your channel offer, and how do you ensure partnerships align with your audience?
Conor McGilligan:
I think the value is in the connection with the fans.
We are tight-knit community, and people trust the content I put out. So if a brand wants to work together, it has to feel natural, something that fits with the club and the culture.
I’m always upfront with the audience, and I think that honesty’s key.
